So you've listened to our advice or have social media savviness and have stepped up your social media game but the problem is, you don't have very many followers! So you're post is not being seen as much as you'd like. Gaining relevant followers can be tricky but read our tips below for advice!
Encourage interactions
By asking your audience their opinion, they'll respond and their responses will then appear on their followings newsfeed. If you engage some, many will see! You can encourage engagement by asking your followers what to name new animals to the shelter, have them guess what mix of breeds they are, etc. Instagram stories have the options for polls, quizzes, and questionnaires. Make sure your pages are public so people have the option to share your content to their pages.
Use Tags to your advantage
By simply tagging photo participants, adding the location, and using relevant hashtags, you will reach new people and networks.
Tell a Story
By sharing true, honest, interesting stories, people will feel involved and attached and will share the shelter's story to their pages. This will help the shelter gain views, likes, and followers.
Connect your Medias
Make sure to have access to the rescue's Facebook page from the rescue's Instagram page and have links to your Instagram on your Facebook page and your website should list all platforms, and circle and circle. By allowing easy access for followers to find your other platforms, you'll gain more followers and interest.
Contests
A common way people gain followers is through promotions. By offering an incentive to like, share, and or comment on a post, you'll gain followers and shares to your post. The incentive could be a pair of tickets to your upcoming event, recieving a recently donated dog house, getting to name the new litter of kittens, etc.!
Join Engageme
nt Groups
There are groups on Instagram specifically for gaining followers. The idea is that if you follow all of the members of the group (or a certain amount), they will follow you (or you have the chance of them following you). These are called commitment gatherings or engagement groups and can be found through a google search. In the same vain, follow your donors, volunteers, adopters, and fellow shelters so they know you're platform exists and follows back!
Repost Relevant Content from Others
By reposting content from others that is relevant to your Rescue, you'll get interest in your site and help others information travel. You can do this by using the "share" button on Facebook and the paper airplane share symbol on Instagram. On Instagram sharing will add the post to your story temporarily while on Facebook sharing can be added to your story temporarily or to your profiles feed permanently.
